Finecut vs Laser

A common question we get is “How is the Finecut vs Laser”? This picture illustrates an example of 5 mm aluminium cut with Finecut and Laser. The part’s functionality requires a high accuracy for precise fitting to mating component surfaces. Parts were here cut out by laser but this surface is quite rough. Surfaces with higher functional requirements has then been cut by the Finecut micro abrasive waterjet system. Laser cutting is thermal process that generates heat and the cut surface get a recast layer and a rough surface. The Finecut process is cold and does not generate any heat, the material properties are maintained and you get a nice smooth surface suitable for precise fitting.
